With pro/reg, salary caps become pretty much impossible to manage. So then you have 2-4 teams who will spend an unlimited amount of money and absolutely dominate.
Then the games that are actually competitive don’t matter as much since they aren’t really playing for titles (think Crystal Palace v Wolves).
The EPL is slightly better than the others, but in each of France, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands and Italy you know who’s going to win before the year starts.
Our sports leagues are far more profitable than the soccer leagues. Even the NHL is more profitable than La Liga and the Bundesliga. It’s because our model makes for a much more competitive landscape.
We’re probably two more generations away but we will soon be producing a much larger number of top players and with 30 plus clubs with salary caps, no pro reg, etc, it’s a matter of time.
