It's called "Mean Girls" but the girls aren't really mean to each other.
They removed all of that because mean language is no longer acceptable.

For example, they can't make fun of Regina George for getting fat because that wouldn't be cool today.

Uhh... It wasn't cool back when the original was made either. That was sort of the point!
