Joe had just thrown over his second wife for the hot blonde chick who appeared with him on a Schick razor commercial. Actually wife #1 and wife #2 were Notre Dame alumnae, and this guy, true or not, had heard things through his network about Joe.
I don't care personally about Montana's multiple marriages or rumors, but to some of the people in the "Greatest Generation" that kind of conduct mattered, and one can argue it is consistent with Montana's less than charitable attitude towards Young these many years later.
