college football is the quintessential American sporting event:

marching bands, rivalries, cheerleaders, mascots, fire dancers, fast food. And the main event is a violent gladiator sport. You just can't experience all that watching on TV.

BTW, the second most American sporting event is Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest on July 4
