We love it here year round, but I gotta admit, nothing beats Summer in Alaska.
Took 4 of my kids fly fishing for grayling the other day. They were all able to land a fish, even the 3 year old (though I hooked hers for her).
It was about 10 pm when we left the house, but with school out and 24 hour daylight, now is the time to take advantage.
This is me glassing for bears while we look for caribou shed antlers. Only found one antler. A couple sets of new grizzly bear tracks through the snow, but couldn't turn them up.
Took a trip to Seward over Memorial day. Went to the sea life center and had a good time. The reds weren't running just yet (reports are people catching limits in 15 minutes the last 2 days now), oh well, that's how it goes sometimes.
Some back yard fun and cleaning up the winter dead fall around the property.
We decided to try to do smoked/canned salmon with some this year. It turned out pretty good.
We got this stencil kit from a recommendation here on cougarboard. The horse shoe pit can now be official.
Lots of fun over the next few months. Still a month left of bear season, then lots of salmon running. Going to get to the Kenia this summer with our ward youth to do the Kenai canoe trails. Close it out this fall with some hunts. Deciding if I have time to hit up kodiak island for mountain goats this year or if it'll have to wait another year. I have an archery moose tag, but lots of opportunities for moose/bear/caribou as the fall progresses.
