I was aware of the IKEA shades but I’m ignorant about what kind of blade one needs to cut through aluminum

Can you share what kind of blade will do that? I have a miter saw, so this seems doable for me.

Non ferrous metal blade. I got mine from Harbor Freight.

This is the blade i use.. but you can also just use a hacksaw and cut it by hand.

FWIW, the Serena shades are *great*. Even when installing them, you can tell how quality they are.
