Oh, he hated it at the time, especially not having Snapchat. He also tried a few different times to create social media accounts without our knowledge. He was successful for periods of time, but ultimately was found out each time. It was a battle.
Then he goes on his mission and has Facebook during Covid. He grew to despise it in many ways.
We haven't had the same pushback from our other kids (one on a mission, one going out in July, 15 year-old girl, and 12 year-old girl). I anticipate some battles down the road, but it seems like parents are finally coming to their senses on this stuff:
Social media KILLS self-esteem. It is a time suck and even worse, diminishes self worth.
(Incidentally, I feel the same way about CB sometimes, and have to take a break.)
Last thought: People told us that our kids would fall behind in their friend groups or just with technology — I never saw it and my son is now married and graduating next year with a software engineering degree.
