Wood sorrel (Oxalis) weeds in raised beds
We have some raised beds where we grow vegetables in our Southern California back yard. They've been very productive. However, after our harvest at last fall we basically let the beds go and they got overrun with what I believe is wood sorrel.

I bought some tomato and pepper plants and got busy prepping the beds today. But as we dug through the beds the roots from the wood sorrel seem like they are really choking the beds. We've really tried to get as much of it out as possible but there are leaves and stems and roots still throughout the soil. I'm concerned that this is just going to regrow and start choking out our vegetables.

Any suggestions? We're not goint to sieve the entire soil to remove all the root matter. Would you just buy commercial garden soil? Hit it with an herbicide and wait a few weeks? Plant now and put mulch on the top and just be vigilant with weeding? Something else?
