Interestingly, it appears half or more are paying >3x their salaries for...
...their homes today (or relatively recently), and I suspect that trend is increasing as 30-year loans became standard and are even being stretched to 35 or 40 years in some cases.

Does this mean the cost of owning a home - and ever paying it off - has increased much faster than inflation over the years?
