Intervention Needed
Basketball rules question:
Team A takes a shot.
Player on Team A slaps the rebound back to a teammate, but so hard it goes into the back court. Team B did not touch the ball.
Team A retrieves the ball in the back court.
How is that not a back court violation?

Does hitting the rim reset anything? The rebounder never got possession.

Maybe the shot caused a change of possession and deflection is not possession?

No team control because of the shot. Slap does not equal possession
