He said when they looked at all the numbers there was only one team that REALLY made sense from the PAC-12 and that was Utah.
There just aren’t a lot of teams out there with 45,000 person stadiums that are mostly filled on any given Saturday; multiple Pac-12 South division titles; a win against Stanford six years ago; consecutive Heisman trophy quality quarterbacks; and several close games at USC.
He said the B1G was on the brink of adding Utah at the end of last year but when they went against them face to face in the Rose Bowl, OSU campaigned HARD against it. They DO NOT want to play against Utah every year, as this would make it very unlikely they would ever go to the playoffs or win the B1G ever again.
So they invited USC and UCLA and left Utah behind. They just couldn’t risk bringing in a powerhouse.
