Utah really wasn't a good place for TEs for a very long time (1980 to 2010 or so), but for at least the last decade they've recruited and utilized TE's quite a bit. I think it started in earnest with Jake Murphy, but I honestly don't follow Utah closely enough to know whether there was any memorable TE before him at the U. I honestly think BYU's history of lighting up Utah at the TE position caused Whittingham to push for more productivity there. The days of George and Pitta lighting up Utah were fun, but they've been returning the favor for a while now.
