So, my history of reading Monson’s articles is likely skewed to BYU and Jazz related. I won’t dispute your opinion, as it is your opinion, and my sample size of read articles, while going back decades, is not likely to have included many church related pieces. While I read Church pieces, I don’t usually go to Monson or the Tribune for that.
That being said, I listened to him on an almost daily basis, prior to his departure from 1280. He grew on me, over time. Unlike Pk or the Real Estate crook, David Fox, I never felt like Monson was putting on an act or just saying something that he knew was a complete lie, like what PK did with the Jazz. He is a different duck on some things, but comes active as a family man, and is open to discussion without insulting those who disagree with him.
I appreciate those with different views than mine, as often, I learn new things or open my thoughts after seeing from a different stance, even though I may vehemently disagree. I also like Hans Olsen, though, so I am in the minority of Cougar Board listeners who believes that Hans is still a die hard Cougar despite complimenting Utah, USU, or an opposing team that played well. He Ute also great at breaking down games for his podcast. I respect people who can call out good or bad, regardless of whether it is their team, their friends, or even faith. It shows humility and the ability to place personal feelings to the side, in doing their job as a journalist or sports analyst.
