How does the fact that the first version was explicitly illegal make this second version definitively legal?
They haven’t drawn the wrath of the streaming companies yet, but they are explicitly breaking terms of service and Netflix has stated more than once that VidAngel does not have their approval to do so. Whether that is illegal is a question, but that doesn’t definitively make it legal either.

Right, that is what got them in trouble in the first place. That doesn’t make their new version approved
