Sitting here at 4:30 reading through the outpouring of help and love for my dad has me in tears. Thank you all.
i'm not even sure he'll be alive in a week, but by dangit, im going to do my best to get him back into the marriott center.
While i was driving him to get an IV yesterday to help prolong his life a bit, his comment to me was "it's so nice to get out of the house."

So I asked him. What do you want to do? Where could we go or what could I help you with that would make you happy? I'd rather see you dying doing something you love than dying on a boring couch or something.

His first response: "I'd like to see another BYU basketball game."

His condidition is feeble but i think we can do it if he's having a "good" day. I'm crossing my fingers and praying it all works out. He'll need to be in a wheelchair most of the time and i don't have experience with that but just getting him there, even for 5 minutes, would bring him so much joy.

Dad taught me to love BYU sports at a very young age. He'd have me crowded around an old radio listening to every play and every game and cheering his heart out. He was the Junior class president at BYU sometime in the 50s and has put his heart and soul into BYU for a lot of years. His class built the bell tower. Every time i hear that thing ring I think of dad.
He's a GREAT man. The absolute best. I have never known him to step outside of Christ's teachings. His only hobby or interest outside of family history or the church is BYU sports.

If it happens or not, I am so grateful for BYU sports for the happiness and moments that have brought us together. Getting him there one more time would be amazing. It may not be in the cards, depending on how he feels and what the next few days bring, but i know that if we don't get him there physically, he'll be blowing his angel's trumpets and screaming with the crowd in spiritual form every chance he gets.

And again, thank you all so much for reaching out to help. There are a lot of wonderful people in this corner of the internet. God bless you all.
