You're just doing it wrong
Pre-Covid had a SoCal resident annual pass for $300. Amazing deal. Went once a month on days when lines would be non-existent. Worked out to be $25 a visit. Worth every penny.

The crowds are what makes Disneyland awful. I might go back if they found a price point that kept the crowds down

Demand for Disneyland tickets is very inelastic. Raise prices 10% and it only decreases demand by a couple % points.

Staying at the Grand Californian is amazing. You can hop back to the hotel for a nap/swim/etc right from the park.
