Bert609 Intervention Needed
I have never noticed that before. I have a few ideas, but I don't think it was an ideal design choice, but rather
a compromise.

Having that kick raises the rear end (better rear safety?) and also shrinks the height of the removable top (easier to remove?). While maintaining taller windows (better viewing angles).

I'd argue it'd look worse if the beltline of the vehicle was level with the rear (shrinking the windows) and it'd definitely make it harder to see out of them when off road.

Ideally, the belt line would be in line with the windows, maybe even lower, but that has to be some kind of safety consideration to keep the belt line high, as most cars are going that way. (sedans are the worse, they are like cocoons these days, no wonder everyone is cancelling them.)
