For many years Costco sold a hot dog and a drink for $1.50. The hot dogs came from Hebrew National. However, many years ago Hebrew National no longer wanted to supply the huge amount of hot dogs Costco required because they were selling millions more and still for the same $1.50 for hot dog and drink.
So Costco started making their own Kirkland brand hot dog:
In a move that angered a legion of Hebrew National fans, Costco stopped offering the kosher dogs and made the switch to sell Kirkland brand hot dogs in their food courts in 2009 — but it wasn't entirely their decision. The new hot dog was developed after their suppliers either quit or were closed down, and the result is the 10 percent bigger all-beef dog (made with USDA choice or better cuts) we've all come to know and love today.
I don't know the difference in price. Probably no real noticeable difference in taste or quality. But there you go, another option.
