to get any of our recruits here like he seems to have done last year.
Our biggest hindrance last season from what I could see — is AB & BA played their minutes regardless. And they started, regardless. Some of that was on our lack of ball handlers, for sure — but the ball moved so poorly last season (versus the previous) you had to wonder how much better we might've been if the ball weren't taken more outa one guy's hands — & handled more by committee.
Regardless, I do much prefer the same setup as last season — with the ball-handling dominated in similar fashion by one player — but by Te'Jon instead.
But I also hope that we're not in a situation where Te'Jon (or anyone) will "get his, regardless." There was too much of that last season.
The one new wrinkle on this roster that gives me optimism on our ceiling (IOWs, that gives me optimism in stealing one from your Zags) — is Seneca's ball handling & feel for the game. If we can get a committed team player outa that kid, we might be really good, I think.
I really like his game & his mismatch potential. Even in light of his flaws. He might end up a better option than any of our other serious suiters who opted elsewhere in the Portal. Per his interviews, it really sounds like he's coming in with a mindset of taking only what is given him — & doing what is asked of him. But coming in & taking on a leadership role from day 1, too.
