has seen the value in BYU to where they are willing to accommodate a no Sunday play policy.
"Could the Big 12 adjust away from Sunday championships for BYU? Yes. Would it be a hassle? Yes. Would it be worth it? Well, I’d say yes, but that’s a conference decision that includes all kinds of things I don’t think about."
The media and fans have loved BYU for a P5 conference, but they aren't the ones looking at all of the details.
I doubt the big 12 is going to survive anyways. It's been talked about before when the Big 12 decided to stick to 10 teams. It was speculated that if Texas or Oklahoma were to leave, the rest of the big 12 is a house of cards and the teams would be absorbed by other conferences leaving 4 superconferences.
I think it's going to happen.
If the big 12 becomes desperate, accommodating BYU won't be such an issue. But I have a hard time believing safe landing spots in other conferences won't be more enticing than cobbling together a conference with no teams with national cache like Alabama, Clemson, USC, Oregon, Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio State, and Wisconsin. I think they would rather be joined to a stable conference with a better reputation and money deal.
