Before the 2010 realignment, the MWC had decent membership with the following teams:
AFA, BYU, CSU, SDSU, TCU, UNLV, UNM, UofU, & WYO
Now, the MWC looks like this:
MWC Teams: AFA, CSU, SDSU, UNLV, UNM, WYO + Former PCAA/BigWest/WAC teams: Boise, Fresno, Hawaii, San Jose State, Nevada-Reno, Utah State
Aside from Boise, there isn't one team from the WAC leftovers that I'd want to play year in and year out. You have complained about AAC destinations, but what do Fresno, San Jose or Logan have that almost any (I said "almost") AAC city doesn't have?
Further, adding BYU makes the MWC unbalanced with 13 teams. Who's coming with us? NOBODY. In fact, if the CFP proposal is accepted, expect to see Boise and SDSU making overtures to join the AAC. The MWC is already a cesspool WITH those two teams. Take them out and how bad does the MWC look then? Aside from BYU, there's only one team in the MWC that attracts any national attention. And, we all know that's Boise. Far better to take BSU and SDSU with us as FB-only members and play in a conference that attracts Eastern/Central time zone eyeballs than be stuck in the streaming no-man's-land that is the Mountain Time Zone against the dregs of the MWC.
With Boise, BYU, and SDSU in FB only, the AAC would look something like this:
East: Cincy, ECU, Temple, UCF, USF, Navy, Tulane
West: Boise, BYU, Houston, Memphis, SDSU, SMU, Tulsa
All East teams are in the Eastern Time Zone. All West teams are in the Pacific, Mountain, or Central Time Zones. With an 8-game conference schedule, West teams would only cross to the East Time Zone once per year. P5? No. 1000% better than the MWC? Without a doubt.
