The biggest problem now is all of the DNA improvements combined with video cameras everywhere. Nowadays, you would walk/drive by 18 ATM Video Cameras, 23 Ring Cameras, 11 Red Light Cameras, and leave DNA in dozens of places even wearing gloves.
50 years ago, it would have been relatively easy, particularly if you had no connection to the victim.
