I believe Deep Blue is/was BYU Broadcasting’s idea. Jarom Jordan often has...
his fingerprints on these sorts of things. If memory serves, he is the co-creator of BYUSN, and he produces the Mark Pope Show. I wouldn’t be surprised if Deep Blue was his idea.
