At that point, BYU went into conservative mode on offense to avoid any turnovers that would give UCF any boost or quick score. Notice the trick plays and deep throws stopped and runs vs pass mix increased. BYU did not care if they scored any more. They just wanted the click to run down without UCF scoring much more.
Meanwhile, the defense played a ton of people, building experience and depth for the future while scheming to avoid giving up any quick scores on big plays.
