Not all private loans btw, I refinance my loans every year or so and most
are forgiven upon death. I think the one I have now isn't, but I'll probably refinance again soon ish. It's always something I pay attention to.

Gov loans are forgiven if you die. Private loans transfer to next of kin.

Both are simply unsecured debt, although federal loans have some security
