If anyone hasn't noticed, they will often list a range of products/brands and also give a range in price. So for example, it might say "Dewalt tool sale $14.99 to 429.99". Then you have to go and look at an individual tools to get a price on a product you are looking at. To me it totally eliminates any temptation I have to buy or impulse buy because I don't see a specific deal that I am tempted by. Or in other words, something like this, "Dewalt 20v drill driver on sale today only $79.99". The $14.99 to 429.99 price range, for me, does exactly the opposite, for me, of what a sale should do.
