But if you’re alone then increase your stealthiness. Approach from downstream and low. If you can find any place that has any depth at all be sneaky and give it a good shot with that dry and possibly a dropper.
I’m honestly very very skeptical that it’s a problem of fly selection. Smallish dry fly (elk hair caddis, foam ant, purple haze, small stimulator) should work. Little SOS or something as a dropper if you have a section that’s more than a few inches deep might work, but shouldn’t be necessary really.
Be sneaky and cover some water. A couple good tries I’m any likely space should be all that is needed before trying the next best place.
