he was basically torpedoed by Pete Whitbeck who didn't have the credentials/experience to actually become the coach. After the very quiet fuss was over he finished his advanced degree and returned to Nebraska as the coaching placement person for Nebraska athletics. Nebraska was very happy to have him back in any capacity.
