We had the right coach for BYU. For $4M, who knows - maybe he would come back.
He is a proven winner. He is not the greatest coach in all of the land - but definitely a winner.
Not to worry - BYU would never pay competitive wages for an experienced head coach with that good of a track record. If they did, they probably could have gotten Whitt when Chris Hill wanted to get rid of him.
