At the end of WWII, we were pushing fighter aircraft off our carriers into the sea so we could transport more troops home. What had been vitally necessary only days earlier was suddenly scrap metal. If the same thing happens to ventilators, that will be fantastic.
Probably, we could find willing homes in poorer countries, though, who are short of ventilators even under normal circumstances. Come to think of it, this is what happened to a lot of our military gear after 1945, too.
