Their death count isn't any more related to single-payer health coverage than the current and accelerating death count in New York is tied to capitalism. One advantage of the single-payer system used in much of Europe is that when there is no once-in-a-generation pandemic, they pay a fraction of what we do and don't hear about their neighbors dying of treatable illnesses.
