The CDC researchers examined the cabins on the Diamond Princess. in those that had not yet been cleaned and disinfected, the virus was discovered in surfaces 17 days after the ship had been fully evacuated. No trace of the virus was found in cabins that were thoroughly cleaned and disinfected

The virus was found in cabins of both those who were symptomatic and asymptomatic. The study indicated that 46.5% of those who were tested positive, we're asymptomatic.
