Shutting them down is ugly.......my wife went to a restaurant/bar last night to do carry out, there was nobody there except the owner and a cook, he had let all other employees go. He was so, so appreciative that we'd ordered. Today, wife and kids order from a different restaurant, they go to pick up the food, doors are locked, a person comes to the door, yells thru the door for their names, goes and gets their food, opens the door enough to hand the food out and shuts and locks the door in their faces, they said she looked terrified just to even open the door.
I know quite a few small business owners and closing down for 2 weeks, cancelling jobs and customer appointments etc is brutal.....some will go out of biz. A month or more closure and we're going to see a lot of businesses go under. 2 weeks from now is it going to be any better with coronavirus? Unlikely it sounds like, probably worse..........at a certain point, and I dont know when, they're going to have to let businesses open right, otherwise they drive mass #'s of people into bankruptcy and unemployment. Scary stuff. I'm feeling fine about my business being in good shape for a couple of months at least but I dont see how a 2 week halt to stores, restaurants, bars, movie theaters, etc is goign to make enough of a difference to even matter.
