Family isn’t always the best route for sure
Just stating the steps they want us to take to be self reliant.
My brother in law has rent out his basement to his dad, who is lazy and dishonest in paying his rent. It has led to a lot of resentment and harmed their relationship. If family takes advantage of you when trying to help, it’s hard not to say the church is the better route.
