This is actually true of most teams. It's called the 2 time zone rule
I don't know if there is any causation but for some reason, traveling two time zones takes a significant hit on records.
This could be just correlation because big time programs are NOT travelling that far for patsies. So teams usually only travel that far for big games and so the record suffers without patsy games to drive up the record.
