needs to turn things around and get back on the right path. Kicking someone off the team or kicking someone out of school isn't how things should be handled if the person is willing to change. It kind of reminds me of my mission president. My mission president would do everything in his power to keep a missionary from going home even if they made a mistake. He felt like if they were sent home the chance of them staying active in the church were pretty slim. He felt like that if he kept them close and was able to help them through the repenting process it was obviously worth it. I'm sure he wasn't the only mission president who felt this way, but I do know there were others who sent home missionaries at an alarming rate.
Should he be held accountable for his mistakes? Absolutely. However, I think the HCO needs to focus more on helping the student/athlete the way the savior would if they are willing to change.
