part of the game. Not sure how it's overrated. Do you know BYU's history with TEs? NFL sure loves their receiving TEs. Often 2nd on the team. How deep of a WR unit is it when your #2 guy is a TE? Frankly I hope a TE is always at least #2 at BYU. 49ers were sure thankful to have Kittle, who was by far their top guy and nobody else was close. Is it ideal for them every year? No. But they were thankful to have him. This is a GREAT year for a TE to be the top guy while someone like Romney gets going.
It's not about "what you'd take." It's about what can be expected at BYU. They're not going to roll out Justyn Ross and Tee Higgins any time soon.
Your 1st and 3rd receivers in 2009 were TEs. BYU had a very productive offense with only one WR in the top 3 in receiving. Sure it's not ideal but BYU can make it work. It's not overrated. It's productive and creates mismatches. Especially the way Grimes will use them.
