BYU's fan base tends to be fairly affluent and a large portion has significant disposable income. A big reason tailgating has not caught on is because of all the time demands on the average LDS family. Basically Sunday is the day of rest, and everything that needs to get done on a weekend has to be crammed into Saturday. Gathering all the stuff to tailgate, transporting it to the stadium, and getting it set up takes hours. If you can pay a few bucks to have someone else gather it and set it up, it sounds like the perfect solution for many BYU fans. It allows you to tailgate without doing any preparation at all or spending any extra time doing it. All you have to do is pay the fees for the tent and show up.
