ChiCityCoug Walk-on
I feel like this BYU-I and BYU debate has really heated up recently. I have had

several experiences where the distinction was not made and it seemed to have been made on purpose. A new couple moved into our ward who were about our age, my wife and I went over to talk with them and introduce ourselves. After a few minutes we turned to where we had all gone to school simply has a fun talking point. Both the wife and her husband said BYU. My wife and I were excited as we had also gone there and graduated around the same time. We asked what classes they had taken and when and if we possible knew any of the same people. The husband then added, well technically we went to BYU-I.

Honestly, I don't care where he went. When he moved into our ward he was going to a nice law school in Chicago so why would I judge him for going to BYU-I? I understand the stigma a little bit. The challenge of getting into BYU and the ease of getting into BYU-I can in turn feel like a demonstration of work ethic, intelligence, and character. But really who cares, just say you went to BYU-I (and be honest on your resume) and in a few years where you went to school won't matter as much as what experience have you had.

Another experience happened just a few days ago and I shared it here already. Short story short, a bug boy said he goes to BYU-Provo during Elders Quorum. So why did he feel he had to clarify this? Was it so that we would look at him and think "wow, he must be so smart because he isn't and BYU-I?" That's nonsense! (everyone knows bug boys aren't smart.. why else would they fall for "you can make 80K in one summer! ;))

The last story is this. While at BYU so many people would pray like the people up on the Rameuptom in the Book of Mormon. And I quote, "Thank you for letting us come to this great university to expand our minds and learn of the great things of the world... Thank you for not making us go to Idaho where only dumb people go and nobody is happy..." (Last part was TIC). I mean come on, get over yourself. Yes BYU is a great university but let's not pretend we walk on water while those at BYU-I eat dirt.

Rant over. If you made it this far congrats, it probably wasn't worth it.
