...About you saving face.
As for CWhitt at Timpview, he had a nice run for a few years keeping Timp at the top of 4A but Timpview had been replaced in that hierarchy in recent years by East and by Corner Canyon. Those things happen. One thing that really helped Timp stay successful and develop players for so long was they were successful at recycling former head coaches by keeping them on staff as assistants when they resigned and new HC’s took over. Wong and Whitt were assistants to Van Orden and Van Orden stayed on as an assistant when Wong took over. The reason Whitt didn’t take a job from his brother or anywhere else was that he wanted to stay teaching at Timp and he even stated he hoped that the new coach would give him a job as an assistant so he could continue with those relationships he’d built.
I think part of why Timpview has suffered a decline in recent years and isn’t churning out the amount of talent that they once did is because many of those coaches are gone. Van Orden (heart and soul of Timp football for years) left for Bingham, Wong wasn’t kept on and so it was CWhitt who was left as a tie to their former glory and eventually that started to slip. When you look back at the timeline of their success it seems it was when Wong was HC and Van Orden the OC. Change happens and nothing stays the same forever. I’m sure Timp will always be decent at football (they were 7-4 last year) and may still every once in a while pull out a good year now in 5A.
