I also can't fathom how you could fail to see that maintenance in an SUV is more than a sedan. Larger, heavier vehicle, larger tires — replaced four at a time, etc.
Saying pedestrian safety is a non-factor seems a callous view. The rise in SUV ownership has correlated with a rise in pedestrian deaths due to larger vehicles and the blunted designs. Those are real people, FYI.
