But Thor is not people - he's the God of Thunder! He's been alive for thousands of years and caused and been a part of so much destruction. I get he was completely and utterly broken, but there are so many other ways that could have been shown than just drunk fat gamer Thor. I would have rather seen him become a suicidal vagabond who roams earth or the galaxies trying to destroy himself but can't, and the Avengers have to bring him home and knock him around to convince him they need his help.

I also thought the attempted humor fell flat without Taika Waititi's influence.
