When I see most losses they aren’t doing either one or the other by dogging it, less than honest effort, showboating, not focusing etc. But the losses if they are working hard, or they are putting in great effort are okay, but then I focus on the coaches. 2017 saw a lot of both weaknesses. Players didn’t seem prepared or focused and the plans couldn’t adapt in the face of opposition. And every strategist knows no plan completely survives contact with the enemy. BYU beat Wisconsin not because the were weak, they were still a good team. They won because they believed they could after the preparation. They lost to California because they believed they could win without proper preparation. My opinion.
