With all of the punting we did, our defense put in a lot of overtime on the field and still finished the season ranked 51st in the nation for allowed yards per game. https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/2018/team/22/p2
If our offense had been able to sustain drives and maintain more time of possession, the yards per game allowed by our defense would have been even better. Why do people keep saying on CougarBoard that our defense was nearly as bad as our offense last year? I'm not saying that they were perfect, but they performed respectably under the conditions.
