Fad Gadget: Collapsing New People
Frank Tovey's Fad Gadget was an influence on Depeche Mode, and not just in their earliest years. In 1983 he collaborated with Einstürzende Neubauten on "Collapsing New People", which forecasts DM's imminent harder sound and the entire industrial genre. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLb9IvqxdH8
Agnes Poetry: My Reward
This takes me back. Depeche Mode spawned numberless imitators, and Utah had its fair share of wannabes. The siblings of Agnes Poetry were the best of them, with glimpses of real potential. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUc8uzlqrhE
Seven Red Seven: Thinking of You
In the same vein, this was a Chicago duo that didn't go anywhere, but put out a nice 1991 album. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4A1oPBKLVDQ
Tin Tin: Hold It
Stephen "Tin Tin" Duffy was the original lead singer for Duran Duran. No Joke! He struck out on his own before they started recording, becoming best known for the single "Kiss Me", although "Hold It" is also quite nice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtcitVHxqsA
Visage: Fade to Grey
Visage never quite cohered as a band, with members splitting time between it and their other projects, including Ultravox, Magazine, and Siouxsie and the Banshees. Steve Strange sings the Visage version of this song, but Midge Ure, who co-wrote it, sings his own version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBgY6-iNTxY
