Howell was far more qualified as a DC than Detmer was as OC
Howell had 10 years of coaching experience, 6 of which at the college level and working directly with and under Bronco, who controlled much of the D even when Howell was the DC.
Bronco made mistakes as a coach certainly, but not hiring Detmer to be an OC isn't one of them, and if that wasn't obvious then, it is now.
