In fact the USWNT systematically uses this fact to structure a training strategy. They schedule training scrimmages against the various boys national teams - and equivalent elite boys club teams - depending on the level of resistance they want. I read this somewhere. It was something like the U-15 level boys provided a significant over match so they could be pushed, whereas the younger age groups eased the over match condition.
Once the testosterone kicks in in adolescent boys it's all over. I used to referee in San Diego and talked to some refs that had refereed some of these training sessions at the Olympic Training center in Chula vista, where various US National team camps have long been hosted (at least in the past). They said the boys just blow by the women. We're a bunch of neanderthals, let's face it.
