Shouldn't BYU of all places lead with mercy and love when dealing with people who have made mistakes? Turning disciplinary councils over to church leaders who are the ones that sign the ecclesiastical endorsements to begin with makes sense. Bishops have a mantle placed on them with gifts of the Spirit for discernment, etc to help them judge. Does any one in the HCO have that mantle placed on them? Or do they follow a handbook and go letter of the law? When did Christ ever go letter of the law?
