The problem wasn't Bronco's recruiting per se. Quite frankly, most non-lds athletes of yesteryear would not survive the honor code of today. Not that the code itself has changed, but its monitoring and discipline has become far more stringent.
I'm a fan of the honor code. But it needs to become closer to the "pirates code": more guidelines than actual rules. Until then we will continue to recruit very few non-lds athletes.
