I say that mostly because there are very few head coaches out there who could / would possibly take over for Sitake with a temple recommend, and second, there are lots of good folks out there who would probably enjoy being BYU’s coach.
If you set up a system where the head coach isn’t the bishop of the team, you can still put safeguards in place where players understand the requirements and we don’t end up with a 2004 situation.
The general authorities have good discernment. They could look into someone’s eyes and see if they have a good soul regardless of their temple recommend status.
